All of us have had our shattered dreams in life. We have planned, we have invested in ourselves, we gave our time, we gave it our all. The results, unfortunately, did not turn out the way we planned it to be. Just think of all the emotions – shame, anger, frustration, and hopelessness.
In the Gospel, we hear of two disciples dealing with shattered dreams. They thought that Jesus was the messiah, the savior of the world, only to see him be nailed on the cross.
For those who are experiencing shattered dreams in life, three things we remember:
- Even when things do not turn out the way we want it, live for the moment. There is no point in looking back and regret. What is done is done. Instead, learn the lessons and continue to be grateful in life.
- God has the best plan. When God closes a door, it is only because he wants us to enter another door. God knew that His Son dying on the cross was not the easiest thing to do, but it was the best.
- God walks with us whether times are good or bad. Where is God when you are at the crossroads of life?
