Mission

One of the biggest sources of income for the country is tourism. For this government, the current slogan is: “Love the Philippines”, but we all know it is very hard to love our country, as it continues to remain a paradox. Five of the many reasons:

  • We are very rich in natural resources and human resources, yet we are a poor country
  • We are supposed to be a Christian country but we are known for corruption and have so many superstitious practices
  • We follow rules abroad but when in the Philippines we do not
  • We are the nicest people but look at the way we drive
  • Wealth and poverty exist right beside each other

Yet, amidst these paradoxes, there is hope – if only we be faithful to the Mission God has given us:  This mission is the reason why we are still here on earth; this mission is why God has blessed us with time, talent and treasure and with this be a blessing to others; this mission is what puts meaning in life:

The Gospel reminds us whatever our Mission is, three things we should remember:

  1. First, always give HOPE. When Jesus healed the sick and drove out demons, He reminded people never to lose HOPE. God is in control and God will always prevail.
  2. Second, TRUST GOD. Jesus instructed his disciples to take nothing for the journey; only a walking stick. Not because He wanted His disciples to have a hard time. He wanted to TRUST GOD because He always provides.
  3. Third, FORGIVENESS. All missions entail relationships; all missions entail dealing with people. Certainly no one is perfect, no relationship is perfect. Hence, the challenge to forgive and ask for forgiveness so that we can be healed and move on.

Yes, our tourism slogan “Love the Philippines” is very accurate, because our love for the country is a love that is based on commitment and not an emotion. Hence let us love our country starting by doing our own share – being faithful to our own mission: Bring Hope, Trust God and Always Forgive.
