Not Seeing God

With everything that is happening in the world today, there are many people asking, “Where is God in all of this?”

  • We were hit by Covid… “Where is God?”
  • School shootings keep happening… “Where is God?”
  • Economic hardships and uncertainty abound… “Where is God?”
  • Broken relationships? “Where is God?”
  • So much evil in the world… “Where is God.”

In the Gospel, the Pharisees and Chief Priests did not see Jesus as God despite all the miracles he performed, like raising Lazarus from the dead. Instead, they even wanted to kill Jesus because he was a threat to their ministry.

We pray that we may see God in everything. Three things we can do:

  1. Gratitude. All is grace. Good times or difficult times, there is still so much to be grateful for. Even in crisis, there is always a silver lining.
  2. Hope. God has a plan in all of this. Sure, there are twists and turns and life throws you a curve ball. Yet, be hopeful, as God has a plan. It is always for what is best for us.
  3. Kindness. The basis for eternal life is the kindness we have shown other people. That is the only treasure we can bring to the next life.

It really is a different world we live in. We have lost our moral compass. Yet, good will always prevail. All it takes is to light just one candle to curse the darkness. Gratitude, Hope and Kindness.
