One thing about this generation is that we can do so many things in a given time because of technology. Anything we want, we can get immediately because of technology. Information, whether right or wrong, is so accessible because of technology. Hence, how many of us will even realize that time just passes us by if we don’t pay attention. Life is short and swift indeed.
Every now and then we come across a Youtube video reminding us of what is really important in life. Why? Especially with social media and technology, we can be so entertained that time just goes by so swiftly. Hence, the importance of life’s true priorities.
Three words of Christ, the author of life, on what is most important in life:
- While we are here on earth, we remember the words of Christ, “Come follow me.” These words remind us that we all have a calling from God. God has a plan for each and every one of us. If we are faithful to the mission, we bless other people, we bless our own life and we find the joy that material things cannot give. As St. Francis once said, “It is in giving that we receive.”
- We are meant to make a difference by being the light of the world and the salt of the earth. There is a saying, that all it needs for evil to prevail is for good people to keep quiet. We have heard this many times. St. Francis also said, “A single sunbeam drives many shadow.”
- Eternal Life. The words of Christ, “Whatever you do to the least of your brethren, you did unto Christ.” In other words, we are here also in this world to bless other people with the time, talent, and treasure that God lent us. We are here because of love and to love. We also remember the words of St. Francis, “Lord make me an instrument of peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”
Amidst the busy activities of life and the many things we do, may we never forget to stop for a while and remember the words of Christ on what is most important in life, three of which are: Mission, Legacy, and Love.
