Trust in God like a Child

I came across a story of a flight that experienced turbulence.  After the scary experience, a man asked a boy who was seated beside him if he was afraid or not. The boy responded, “no.” He explained, “My father is the pilot and I know he will take care of me.”

Jesus said when it comes to our faith, like the boy, we should be ever trusting of God. No matter what we are going through, “I know God will take care of me.”

In our everyday lives, three things we can do to show our trust in God:

  1. Prayer. Padre Pio said it most accurately: “Pray, hope and do not worry.” When we are to pray, Jesus said, we are not to babble like pagans. Instead, he said to “Pray unceasingly.”
  2. Always be Hopeful. In life, there are good days and there are bad days. Sometimes we are up and sometimes we are down. Yet, the Lord does not change. When life seems to be unfair always remember that everything happens for a reason and a purpose. We may not understand why, but God in his goodness allowed this because it is all part of his plan.
  3. Do What is Right. Why do good when the ones who are not doing what is right are getting ahead in this life? While this is true, remember all things are passing and all things are fleeting. We need people to do what is right if we want to make this world a better place to live in. Otherwise, all it needs for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

Hence in every Mass, we pray for hope, especially for those who are undergoing great difficulty. Remember that after night comes day.
