For those who drive, there is an app that is very much appreciated – WAZE. Just put in your location and where you would want to go and it will guide you. It tells you when to turn right or left or make a round. Yes, it also tells you how to get back on track when you make a mistake.
How we wish that such is life. How we wish that there is help on where to go. How we wish that there is guidance on how to get back on track if we make the wrong turns in life.
My dear friends, in the Gospel of Luke, just before Jesus chose the twelve apostles, he spent the night in prayer. He asked for the guidance of God.
Three reasons why we should ask for God’s guidance:
- We are “sheep” and God is the “Shepherd.” In other words, as human beings, no matter how talented we are, no matter how intelligent we are, no matter how rich we are, or no matter how powerful we are, we need guidance. How many people who we look up to commit the most unthinkable mistakes? “What was he thinking?” we ask ourselves.
- God knows what is best. Why he has plans for us and what is the reason why we are on this earth. Hence, Jesus, while here on earth, would always say, “Your will and not my will.”
- Nothing is permanent in life. All is changing. Because all is changing, we constantly need guidance. Most especially life today which is so complicated.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.Proverbs 3:5
