I came across an article by Bernard Omondi that gives seven 7 indicators that a person is losing faith:
- First, we question God’s plan
- Second, we feel disconnected spiritually
- Third, we experience emotional turmoil
- Fourth, we seek alternative Gods
- Fifth, we lost trust in God’s promises
- Sixth, we pull away from the Church
- Seventh, we experience a crisis of identity
Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. John the Baptist. In a world where people have either lost God, removed God, or have not heard of God, the message of John the Baptist is very important: “Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is near.”
In the very life of John the Baptist, there are three things he did that made himself prepared:
- First, he had the gift of faith. When Mary visited Elizabeth, the mother of John, John, who was an infant in the womb, leapt for joy. In a very early stage in life, John had the gift of faith, and that gift of faith brought Joy.
- Second, John was faithful to his mission. Many people thought John was the messiah. He had the humility to say that he was not the messiah. In fact, he even said, “I must decrease, as Christ must increase”.
- Third, John spoke the truth boldly. The reason for his being jailed was that John told Herod Antipas that it would not be right for him to marry Herodias, who was married to his brother, Philip.
Faith, Mission, and Prophet.
We pray for our own lives. John tells us that we are all on borrowed time. God will come to our lives in his way and time. In the meantime, as Christians, we should be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. John the Baptist reminds us to be people of Faith, Mission, and with a Prophetic Message.
