Hope

A friend of mine was talking about his business. He said, five years ago, he was supposed to close his business – there were so many problems such as: revenue, manpower, equipment breakdown. Today, he is most bullish about his business. What happened? Three years ago, they started letting go of people including the problematic ones. Then suddenly their product was discovered and became most sought after. Then investors eventually came in and even introduced new technology. My friend said, that five years ago, he could not even think that this would happen to his business. What was supposed to be the end of the line became the start of a new beginning.

Yesterday we celebrated Easter. What was supposed to be end of line with the death of Jesus turned out to be the start of the new beginning – His resurrection. In other words, three of  the biggest messages of Easter are:

  1. First, God has a plan in everything. Jesus knew that it was God’s plan that the Messiah had to suffer and then die on the cross but after three days, rise from the dead. While the world looks at life as just a choice between good luck or bad luck, Easter reminds us to be hopeful, God has a plan in everything. What seems to be the defeats and deaths of life are only part of a grand plan.
  2. Second, Good will always prevail. The enemies of Jesus thought that when Jesus died on the cross, they were victorious. Yet, after three days they realized that their evil plans were no match from the mysterious ways of God. Easter reminds us to be hopeful – good will always prevail.
  3. Third, there is eternal life.  With the resurrection we are reminded that life does not end with death – there is eternal life. As Jesus said, “In my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places.” Hence, with this reality, may we guided with what is important and what is fleeing in life.

Easter reminds us that life does not end with death and nothing can conquer love, hence always be hopeful: God has a plan, Good will always prevail and there is eternal life.
