In many readings, there is one message that the Church would like to send: God is Love.

Since God is love, it is important that the love is shared with one another. That is why on Trinity Sunday, which we celebrated yesterday, the Trinity reminds us that there are three persons in one God. Indeed a mystery but by no means logical. Why Logical? If God is love and there are three persons in one God, hence the love is shared among the three persons. Otherwise, if there is only one person in God, how can that person be a God of love.

Further, if we are created in the image and likeness of God, we should also be people of Love. Hence as we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, three things we remember:

1. We are Relational. That is, no one is an island. We need people. But look at what Technology has been doing to us. We may be inside the same car, at the same dining table, or working for the same office, but people do not talk or communicate. We are so consumed by gadgets that we forget to build relationships.
2. Just as the Holy Trinity is composed of three different persons, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we, too, as people are reminded that we are all unique. Hence, there is no need for somebody else, no need to live by somebody’s expectation because we, too, are all unique.
3. We are people who LOVE. Love is supposed to be the most natural thing for us. But yes, we get hurt, we get betrayed, we sin. But may we never forget that we can only find our true selves when we love and forgive.

With the Solemnity of Trinity, we realize that: we have a God who is a Father, a Father who will do everything for his children; we have a God who is Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life; we have a God who is the Holy Spirit, the source of gifts and fruits.
