There is a saying that life is a journey and in this journey certainly there is something we are looking for. In an article on the top 10 things people are looking for, the results were:
- Happiness
- Money
- Freedom
- Peace
- Joy
- Balance
- Fulfillment
- Confidence
- Stability
- Passion
As we continue to welcome the new year, let us ask ourselves, “What are you looking for?” This was also the question of Jesus to the disciples, who were looking for something in life.
In our search for something or someone, three things we can remember:
- God has a plan for each of us. The mere fact that we made it to 2024, God has a plan. We also remember his words, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”
- God is just a prayer away. Of course, the will of the Lord is not known immediately. Hence, we go to him in prayer. We also ask God, “What are you telling me in a situation like this?” Remember, everything is happening for a reason and purpose.
- Today is the only day we have. One of the biggest traps when looking and waiting for something or someone in life is that we do not live for the moment. Enjoy the moment. Never take for granted relationships. The only time we have is now.
We thank God for the new year. While the news is not always good, we are always hopeful. We look back with Gratitude: all the blessings, all the lessons learned, and the gift of family and true friends. Yes, may we find what we are looking for. May we find God in all our searches.
