People have always talked about the paradox of time. The past is the past, yet there are some people who continue to dwell in the past. The future is just a promise, yet there are people who continue to keep their sights on the future, forgetting that the only time we have is now.
The message of the gospel, in regards to time, is threefold:
- First, live in the present
- Second, be prepared because God’s time is different from ours
- Third, always be hopeful.
How can we be hopeful in a life wherein nothing is permanent and all is passing and fleeting?
- First, remember God has a plan. His ways, time, and wisdom are different, yet he knows what is best.
- Second. God will never abandon us. Jesus told his listeners, “Look at the flowers of the field and the birds of the air… God never abandons them”. What more regarding us, his people, created in the image and likeness of God. Further, God so loved the world that he gave his only son.
- Third, life is forever. Death is not the end. In other words, may we always be reminded in this life of what is important, as we are only passing by this world.
Hence, whatever we are going through in life, we are grateful we still have time. Do what needs to be done because we are not sure how much time we have. Also, live always with hope: God has a plan; God will never abandon us.
“In My Father’s hope there many dwelling places”.
