Although each life is unique, each life is special and no two persons are the same, we have qualities that we inherit from both our father and mother. Hence, since the first hero many sons are their fathers, it is such a great compliment when people say, “You are like your father”.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells Philip, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” He tells Philip too, that, “The Father is in me and I in the Father.” Further, Jesus tells us, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”
Hence with these words, three things we remember:
- There is only one God. There are three persons in one God – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We are told that there should only be one God. Yet, how many of us defend all the superstitious practices, and think, “It won’t hurt”. In fact, having superstitions is like saying, “We don’t fully trust God.”
- There is only one Church. Christ told Peter, “You are the rock and on this rock I will build my Church.” Hence, while we should be more understanding of people of other faiths, we should also uphold the truth of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
- There is only one Faith. St. Paul reminds us to be sober and vigilant because the devil is walking like a roaring lion waiting for someone to devour. When Jesus was tempted in the desert, the devil even used scriptures. Why do people fall out of the faith? Because the devil has tempted them to leave the faith. We too remember the Parable of the Seed where so many times the seed did not blossom to faith for various reasons.
We continue to thank God for he will do everything and anything for us to have eternal life. On the other hand, life on earth is not easy. Hence, we continue to hold on to God.
