Words are very powerful, they can heal or they can destroy. How many of us go through life with words that destroy: “You are no good”, “Why can’t you be like your sister”, and “Believe me, you will be nobody in this life”. On the other hand, there are also words that heal, “I love you”, “I am sorry,” “There is no one like you”.
In the Gospel, Jesus reminds the Jews to believe in his Words, because he is sent by His Father and His words are backed up by His powerful deeds. The reactions of the people? There were those who did not believe and wanted to stone Him, and there were those who believed in his Words.
In these difficult times, there are Words in the Bible that will give us strength and hope:
- First in the Letter of Paul to the Philippians: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Second, Pray unceasingly. Because words are very powerful, on one hand, Jesus tells us not to babble when praying. On the other hand, he says to pray unceasingly. On the topic of praying unceasingly, the Rosary comes to mind. In an exorcism, the Devil admitted that every Hail Mary is a blow to its head and the Rosary is so powerful.
- Third, Acts of Kindness. The basis for eternal life is “whatever you do to the least of your brethren you do unto me”. Even in difficult times, continue to be a blessing and the blessing will surely come back – thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.
Let us remember to hold on to the Word of God. If you fill your mind with it, the lies of satan will have no room.
