There is a book entitled, The Art of War which is an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from the 5th century BC, and is attributed to the famous military strategist Sun Tzu (“Master Sun”). The book is about conflict knowledge and tactics revolving around several key concepts, including:
- Knowing when to fight and when not to fight
- Knowing how to mislead the enemy
- Knowing oneself and one’s enemy
In the world that we live in, we must remember that there is the seen and the unseen. We also remember what St. Paul reminds us: that the current greatest battle is against principalities – good versus evil.
In the Gospel, Jesus was accused of getting his powers from Belzeebul and because of that, he could drive out demons. Based on the accounts of Exorcists, there are three things about evil spirits. This is very important because we are in the middle of the greatest battle and we cannot be neutral or fence-sitters.
- In our daily lives, temptation will always be present. This comes from the world, oneself, and the devil. Extraordinarily, the devil is capable of the following:
- Obsession – putting negative messages in our minds
- Oppression – inflicting damage in our lives like a sickness that cannot be diagnosed or cured
- Possession – taking over our body and faculties
- Hauntings – infesting houses, offices, and objects
- Among the devils, there is no unity. That is not their nature because they are full of pride. Instead, when there is a legion, the strongest spirit subjugates the weaker spirits.
- Good will always prevail. We should not let evil enter into our lives. Remember the saying, “the Devil is like a roaring lion waiting for someone to devour”. Hence, have nothing to do with the occult. Do not engage with healing that is not from God, do not harbor anger and a lack of forgiveness, and have nothing to do with wayward philosophies and religions.
We ALWAYS have to be vigilant.
